Born in Seoul and raised in Pittsburgh, surrounded by the biggest family and so much love, my life has always been about imagination and discovery, passion and drive, dreaming big and seeing what’s possible.
From playing for hours in my room when I was a kid with a basket of toys to writing for hours a day as an adult on my computer with the characters and worlds I created, stories have played an integral part in my life. In 2010, I made it official. I got my first job in publishing at epicurean magazine Lux and haven’t looked back.

Wouldn't it be awesome to read stories for a living?
And so I set to work. Wasn't really sure what I was doing but I knew that the direction I was headed down was right. So between working for the magazine and building up my own arts and entertainment website (where I got to review books and shows and interview incredible people such as Bridgerton author Julia Quinn, superstar agent Jodi Reamer, bestselling author of the Original Sinners series Tiffany Reisz, and many more writers, agents, editors, and actors), I started taking on manuscripts. First from friends, then oh so lovely referrals, and then one day, strangers contacted me to say "hey, I heard you're pretty good. Can you edit my story?"
And Bethany Hensel, EDITOR and COACH, was born!
Now it's 15 years later and it's still such an honor to work with such amazing writers. I love what I do and the reason is simple:
Stories are amazing. And so are the people who tell them.
Just a few things about me...
- I can make the most delicious vegan nuggets on earth.
- I'm a black belt vision board manifester. Almost everything from last year's board has come true.
- I was a baton twirler! Mm-hmm. Not just any twirler but part of the world champion twirl team, The Modernettes.
- I do not like scary movies.
- But I do enjoy a sexy vampire. (Looking at you, Jacob Anderson.)
one last thing
I believe now is the very best time to be a writer. Throw the "rule book" away and just go for it.
